UK-REGISTERED CHARITY NUMBER 1212641

About
Becky's Button

Becky's Button is a UK-registered charity working in the prevention and early intervention of violence against women and girls. We equip the next generation with the education and tools they need to recognise and challenge it, while providing personal safety tools to organisations that reach women at risk.

Our purpose

Education, empowerment and collaboration

Our work spans the globe, grounded in the belief that prevention of violence against women and girls should start before harm happens.

Working alongside secondary schools, universities, institutions and grassroots partners, we raise awareness, create space for honest dialogue and build confidence. Personal safety tools provide immediate support, while deeper attitudes and behaviours are challenged.

Founded in memory of Rebecca Dykes, we build programmes with young people, not just for them, ensuring their voices, ideas and leadership help create lasting change.

Our vision

A world where everyone feels safe, valued and equal

A world free from violence against women and girls, built by communities that recognise harm early and act together.

Our mission

Building safer communities before harm happens

We combine prevention education, youth-led action, practical safety support, and collaboration with trusted institutions

Our approach

Prevention starts before violence happens

Pillar 1

Prevention and early intervention grounded in policy and evidence

Our prevention work reflects priorities within education, safeguarding and early intervention. We help people recognise harmful behaviour, challenge misogyny online and offline, practise bystander action and open conversations before harm escalates.

Pillar 2

Empowering young people to lead action against violence against women and girls

Young people are participants and leaders. Through challenges, ambassador activity and structured development, they build confidence, communication and critical-thinking skills while turning ideas into practical action on campus and in their communities.

Pillar 3

Supporting grassroots organisations, institutions and communities

We collaborate with schools, universities, frontline organisations and community partners. This helps prevention work travel through trusted institutions and enables personal safety alarms to reach people who may be at increased risk.
