Student Ambassador Programme
A programme that helps young people lead action to prevent violence against women and girls (VAWG) on campus and in their communities.

Ambassadors help create conversations, share learning and turn awareness into practical activity. The programme supports communication, critical thinking, teamwork and leadership while keeping young people involved in shaping the work.
What ambassadors do

- Develop communication, teamwork and leadership
- Shape activity for their campus or community
- Connect awareness with practical action
Where our ambassadors work

Manchester
Student ambassadors in Manchester
At the University of Manchester, our ambassador programme supports students to lead action against VAWG on their own campus. Three ambassadors, selected from 39 applicants, are running campaigns for fellow students this term, from workshops on misogyny, consent and being an active bystander to training for university sports clubs and conversation cards on VAWG themes.

Cambridge
Student ambassadors in Cambridge
Cambridge is where our UK ambassador work began, at Newnham College. Our founding ambassador studied there and now works in our UK team on policy and outreach, and was a judge for the Rebecca Dykes Changemaker Challenge 2026. Today’s Cambridge ambassadors contribute to our training, including the Becky’s Button Changemaker Programme, and our founder, Jane Houng, has spoken at Newnham on International Women’s Day and at the Cambridge Union.

Jordan
Ambassadors in Jordan
In Jordan, our senior ambassadors build links with universities and raise students’ awareness of online sexual harassment and cyberbullying. In November 2024 they organised and co-presented a VAWG workshop at the German Jordanian University in Amman, and their outreach has included students from Jordan, Yemen and Palestine.

Lebanon
Ambassadors in Lebanon
In Lebanon, our ambassadors are among the student and graduate volunteers behind the Rebecca Dykes Changemaker Challenge, which invites secondary school and university students to take on misogyny and VAWG. Past participants now help run it: members of the 2025 winning team screen entries, and one 2025 participant, now an ambassador, promoted the 2026 challenge on television and at her university.

Pakistan
Ambassadors in Pakistan
In Pakistan, our ambassadors connect Becky’s Button with universities and young people, with a focus on harassment and online safety. In 2024 they helped arrange a VAWG awareness event at the International Islamic University Islamabad and represented Becky’s Button at a 16 Days of Activism press conference held by the Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment of Women.
